I decided to post my favorite render Jobs of 2020 on here. And looking for tips on how I could have improved them, any tips would be appreciated.
Was also going to suggest that every one else including Cadsoft post their top 4 renders of the year, either post it on here or on your own topic, just thought it would be very interesting.
Nice work Conrad. You most definitely have the 3D Modeling down pat. They all look great.
You exterior features vary but Oasis for one has pretty good grass and plant intensity…. not too bright like some of the others. So if anything I’d work on getting better surrounds.
I’ve notice that under Option in Rendering (bottom left) , that the Plant Intensity doesn’t hold. I turn it down, leave Realtime Render and sometimes when I come back trees are BRIGHT GREEN. Ruins the whole render.
Other things you can do is to create walks and drives in segments so they have ‘control joints’ / I know asphalt drives normally are joint free but those small details help to make exteriors better.
And if possible a tree branch right in front of camera to the side, and foreground tree shadow on the grass, really starts making exteriors better.
Your backgrounds are beautiful 🙂
thanks for posting.
Thanks for the tips Jack,
Yes that is something i really struggle with. I brought some plants over from RealTime now and i think they look better.
And the Oasis i just turned darker after i had run the render and i thought that made a difference to.
And i have to try that with the driveway and walks never thought about that. and it would be a way of breaking it up and making it jump more.
And i like the tip of the tree branch that would look nice never thought of that either.
Thanks again for commenting,
Was wondering if you could give me a tip on how the best way would be to create a roof like this. Is there a way of breaking a roof and just extending such a small part like this at the top, or would you just attach another one to it and try and hide the seam where it meets. I’d really like some advice on this anyone suggestions would be appreciated.
Cause this house has a pile of them and all the gables and also the dormers get it. It’s a complete timber frame house.
Yes Break works Conrad.
First dimension from Ridge of Gable to define break point . Then use line tool to draw break line. Then mirror that at Gable to other side. Both break points MUST be exactly the same to get even look.
Then pull the center gable out, all three arrows with be gables so , select the two left / right arrows and switch them to Hip. IF your roof is not a 12/12 pitch, you must also match the pitch of the new HIPs to the existing pitch . (in this sample the roof is 10/12, so I switch HIPs to 10.
Then go to Support and Details tab while still having the new HIPs selected and change the Support Height (try 15′ and adjust from there). Also set the Soffit to Rake (bottom Left of same dialogue box).
If you get a little white line when moving in 3D , you must do fine adjustment in fractions to the Support Height.
Let me see how it works for you please.
Thanks that’s exactly what I’m looking for, But boy i see i have my work cut out for me, it’s going to take time to do this project. And yes i will share it with you, only don’t look for it soon cause it’s gonna take a long time, Cause we’re still trying to iron out the floor plans but i knew i had to start figuring a few things out before.
I had got a rush job yest. afternoon that i wanted to share with you. Irritates me that i forgot to put a tree off to the side with a branch in front of camera.
Thought the realtime tree photo boards looked great! thanks for sharing that with me.
Excuse the 2 pics it said site temporarily unavailable and now it added 2 copies and don’t know how to erase the one
Irritates me that i forgot to put a tree off to the side with a branch in front of camera.
Don’t worry about that. Here in Oz we’re used to developers that bulldoze everything so they can start “with a clean slate”
Hey Conrad…I like that NAPA auto store render and I’m curious how you got that garage door with the windows in the middle of it?
Sounds like a good thing for architects and builders.
Seems like most of my renders are houses that are getting a facelift with a garage or dormers or in this case a second story built on top or screened in or covered porches mostly small jobs. And the people are worried how it looks to the people that are driving past their house every day. so they get me to do a street view of the house so they can see if it has an attractive look. The new houses are mostly blueprints for me. But I did figure out you can give people a great 2D drawing that will give them a very good idea. house below was built in South Carolina.
P.s. i took roof pitches floor level markers off to make it look cleaner to put on here. Just mentioned it so you didn’t think i forgot it.
Edit: PS don’t look close at that render last render door knob is on wrong side had to do it over.:)
Below are the directions for it.
Thanks, i had a lot of fun with that one. i really enjoyed finding batteries and signs and making it look good.
