I have heard that a laptop is more efficient than a desktop. Is that true? Why should I get a laptop rather than a desktop? I want a good performance machine but I don't want to feel guilty that I went with a wasteful electronic device.

How much performance do you need? If you need the power that only a desktop workstation can provide, then the laptop may not even be an option. |

Unless you need a high powered rendering machine, play very high end games or really put a drain on your processor, I can't see why you would need a desktop. Today's laptops are pretty high performance and can run most software packages including graphics and sound editing. I say go with the laptop, not only is it more efficient in the long run, you also have the benefit of portability. If you don't travel, you could just treat it as a desktop replacement. |

I dabble here and there. I do a little photo editing and my kids want to do some video stuff. My kids also play games on the computer because I refuse to buy them those console games. |

I say go with the laptop unless you know you need the desktop. I consider desktop applications like rendering, heavy online gaming, major video editing. Outside that, the technology in laptops is sound enough to handle it and they are portable. |

Go with the laptop. Fast, light weight, energy efficient and portable. For most applications, the desktop is overkill. |

Laptop is the only choice that makes sense. I think everyone else here has pointed out the benefits and shortcomings for the most part. The convenience and low power draw of the laptop wins in my opinion. |

It depends upon your usage and need, If you have need to make power and heavy usage then i suggest go to desktop, but if you have usage on normal basis then go the laptop... how to install a toilet |

if you want mobility, go for laptop but if you will only use it at home, i recommend desktop, desktop last longer than laptop and easy to upgrade with today's changing technology |

I had the same problem. I wanted a laptop over computer because I already have one computer. However, I didn't have knowledge over the benefits of each over other. While searching the internet, I realized that Angie's List , pcworld, reviews, laptopmag offers excellent reviews on what to buy over laptop and computers. |
