In looking at windows for my home, there are just so many options. Double pane, triple pane, argon filled, Low-E coatings, reflective coatings, in window blinds, krypton filled windows (sorry Superman). How do you choose the best window without getting too much and wasting money in these tough economic times. Can someone help me wade through this mess. I am sure its simple to someone but to me its just an information overload. |

Where do you live? It makes a difference where you live as to how much window you really need. In colder climates you need more insulation and in warmer/sunnier climates you need to keep the sun out more. This is the starting point in my opinion. Its not just pick a window and slap it in. Its about understanding what you need in a window for your application (this changes based on the room, orientation, function, etc.) |
