One of the crucial issues faced by the world is the rising oil and gas prices.

So what side do you fall on? Do you think we should be using oil and gas?

On your actual commentary.... it's not just demand that controls pricing. Supply is the other component. Supplies are controlled mostly by OPEC countries which limit supply to artificially inflate prices and this in part is why there is profit. In most instances, when supply is artificially restricted, demand falls, forcing prices back down, but with oil, this isn't the case, allowing for profits to sky rocket when supply is restricted.

The other problem we will likely face as demand increases is the concept known as peak oil, the point at which the oil that is still underground becomes more and more difficult to reach and the cost of drilling for oil outstrips the price that the market will bear. It is hard to tell if we have reached peak oil, but we are close.

If you are hear to advertise for an investment, then I don't think you'll find many takers.

I think that we all need to be doing out own micro-investments into renewable energy and environmental protection. It doesn't have to center around profits and money., I get that the money will likely be a driving force just like it is today in our fossil fuel economy, but it doesn't have to be that way.

Everyone can take steps at their own level for better tomorrow, first of all everyone should be clear about the importance of clean and green environment for us as well as for our future generations. We can start by using the renewable sources of energy and after that adapting other things one by one.One can contribute by:
    1)Using renewable sources of energy
2)By recycling all the waste materials.
    3)Going for organic products.etc.

Hope everyone work in their own way for better tomorrow.

    Runka,

Don't you think we are better off reducing our consumption of energy , of material goods and products in general before we go the routes that you mention? I also seriously question the benefits of organics.

I have heard some good questions lately about organics myself and if they are really a viable solution to feeding ever increasing planets. I have also heard some pretty compelling evidence that our exposure to supposedly dangerous chemicals is far overstated and could be seen as false in some senses.

I do agree with lilly that the first step should be to reduce before we jump into technology. If for nothing else, technology can be very expensive and in order to reduce the financial burdens, we should reduce consumption and demand, limiting how much technology is necessary to meet needs.
