Hi everyone, My name is Emily and I work with Bosch Home Appliances here in Canada. I came across this site when doing a search for eco-leaders and thought I might find a few here. This year, Bosch is looking to celebrate people who are really making a difference for the environment in their community. With this, they have launched the Canadian Eco-Leader Award. The award will recognize the great work that Canadians communities are instigating to create greener, more sustainable lifestyles for themselves, their families, neighbours and for future generations. You can nominate someone until September 19th, 2010 by visiting www.bosch-home.ca and clicking on the Canadian Eco-Leader Award tab. The selected Eco-Leader will receive $5,000 – The Bosch Eco-lution Fund – to help advance the cause of environmental responsibility and will also be awarded a mentoring opportunity with Bosch representatives, Dr. David Bell and select environmental and sustainability experts. I hope you find this of interest. Good luck to everyone who enters and please feel free to ask me any questions on this thread. Emily |

I hear that this site is owed by a Canadian company but I think most of the members here are US based. I think the award you listed is pretty cool. Any program like that in the US? |

Hi there, I just work with the Canadian company. There is a Bosch Home Appliance facebook page for the US that provides updates about their programs if you are interested.

The company that runs this site is Canadian isn't it. Engineering.com. I guess they are probably too big to be considered though. |

I think it might be that last one that knocks out Engineering.com as a participant, but I am sure they have seen this and looked into whether or not thew could submit. |

Posted By chloe on 09 Jun 2010 05:01 PM Hey while you're here why don't you tell us what makes Bosch a green company? Sure :) Bosch has a long-standing legacy for environmental and corporate social responsibility and has been committed to enhancing its position as a leader in environmental and sustainable production for over forty years. Bosch has made a serious commitment to exemplify environmental and corporate responsibility both in our day-to-day business and through innovation. Bosch practices low-impact manufacturing processes while designing the most efficient machines on the market. Some examples of this commitment: - Helping suppliers to locate near the factories to reduce carbon footprint - Converting to high efficiency lighting in its factories - Recycling solvents and coatings used in mfg. processes - Working with suppliers to design re-usable parts packaging to reduce waste - Increasing quality control, because fewer defects means reduced service visits, fewer returns and reduced carbon output as a result - Changing to longer shifts where heat-generating processes are involved, to reduce waste from heat-up times each shift Bosch has also introduced a global integrated management system for environmental issues that makes certain we maintain our high standards for environmental responsibility – a principle that permeates the entire product lifecycle, from manufacture through to disposal. As a participant of the ENERGY STAR program, Bosch is now the only manufacturer offering entire lines of ENERGY STAR qualified products in the refrigeration, dishwasher and clothes washer categories. If you are curious to see more details our sustainability reports are available online as well. Thanks for your interest! Emily |

Sounds like you guys are really into this. Have you tried to incorporate Cradle-2-Cradle ideals into any product line? I think this would be really cool for an appliance company do get on that list. |

If you are interested, check in out here: http://microsites.boschappliances.c...mpany.aspx Thanks again for the interest. It's great to hear that there is so much interest in sustainability. |

Would anyone from Bosch be interested in uploading some models into the BIM catalogs? There are some from Maytag there. It would be great to be able to incorporate Bosch's Green Technology into green home design as well!! |

I like Bosch products. I have a hard time convincing some of my clients that Bosch is just as good as the names they are used to hearing, but because of some of your website and literature information it has been easier. I like your commitment to sustainability but it does seem that almost all the appliance companies are getting on board and the competition at the sustainable level is getting pretty crowded. |

I like your commitment to sustainability but it does seem that almost all the appliance companies are getting on board and the competition at the sustainable level is getting pretty crowded. There definitely have been many companies that have decided to take a more sustainable approach to their products, which is fantastic. What few people do know is that Bosch has been doing so for over 40 years - and that's something we are extremely proud of. I really appreciate your feedback and am glad the links I've posted have been helpful. If you have any other suggestions you would like to share, we would love to hear them. |

Bosch, for future reference we do not allow advertising on the site. I am talking more specifically about your the post in response to a request for more information about your company. Because it was a request, we will allow this post to remain on the site. In the future we do have a "Resource Depot" section that can be used for promotions. Thank you for being an active member of our forums. Its important to get all views from the newbie individuals to the experienced large corporations. |
