lilly, a bit harsh don't you think. Jehnavi was just pointing out that there were other renewable energy sources out there. I agree that tidal energy has little possibility of going small scale, but its still an option for powering the grid right?

seenabro, I am not sure what that link was for, but one of the biggest advantages is energy security. In the coming years, it is likely that energy costs will go up and up and up as we reach peak oil and legislators finally realize that coal is always going to be a dirty fuel source. As that happens, renewable resources will become more necessary. While we might be able to take advantage of centralized renewable energy sources, decentralized (on each house) renewable energy production will be cheaper to run and have a more direct impact on the individual consumer.

Before moving onto energy options, maybe its important to make sure we do the little things right. Like , not leave the tap running. Turn off any electrical appliances when we don't need them. Also, sustainable housing is an option as eco-friendly materials can be used to build homes.

I would vote for solar energy as the best source of energy. The amount of energy that we get from sun is not comparable with any other source. But solar energy may not be useful for a place that gets very little sunlight or doesn't get at all for six months.

We do agree that solar energy if harnessed well can be one of the best energy options. We still need to make people aware of saving water, saving paper/trees also and saving energy. These are a few basics every human should follow. http://www.facebook.com/ZEDuniverse
