Welcome to the San Francisco Green Festival®, a joint project of Global Exchange and Green America. Each year, this San Francisco event never ceases to amaze us.

As a fledgling in 2002, San Francisco started with only 50 speakers and a handful of special events. in 2009, the San Francisco Green Festival® boasted 3 days filled with the best in green, and continues to expand in size and scope! With more than 150 renowned speakers and 400 green businesses, this event was an amazing success!

Find out how Bay Area neighbors, community nonprofits and city departments are working together to make their cities healthier places to live.

The dates are set for two Green Festivals in 2010.

I wish I lived in an area that promoted green like San Fran or other cities, but where I live (sorry not going to mention) is way behind the curve and green here is seen as a fad still.

I think, the place doesn't matter but if we are concerned with the green issue then we can ourselves start the revolution.

Power to the People. The revolution has been slow in developing though hasn't it. This really all started back in the 70s. People are just now seeing that there is something to it. How much longer must we wait until people realize they have to make up for decades of complacency. I too wish I could go to the festival, but alas it is too far away.

The reason it didn't work until now was that after the oil embargo, oil became cheap and bountiful. People had no reason to conserve because they were told that oil would last forever, that we would just find more. People wanted the easy solution and legislators and big oil gave them a load of (&$ to ease their minds. Now the story is different. Science is showing that its to the detriment of our species if we keep consuming at the current rates.

I say bravo to all people who have been on board since the 70s but still many kudos to those who are pushing for it now.

We can all hope that the new green movement keeps its momentum. I feel that in the past green living was always relegated to those "treehugging hippies" but this time I feel a big push to make it all mainstream.
