Go Green is the need of the hour , use energy saving and environment safe products . We can start with using LEDS which not only saves energy but are completely safe for the environment and our health in general. BPL’s Studylite has come in at just the right time specially in studylite the eyes don’t get strained and the LED does not even get hot. check out this product: http://www.studylite.in/index.php?o...=38&cid=cm |

This is the second posting for this light. Does anyone else see a problem with that. This light can't put out enough light to truly study under. It may be bright but that's only in a totally dark situation. "Completely safe for the environment" . Are you kidding, this thing is made from plastic which is petroleum based. This is definitely one of those greenwashing moments that others here are speaking about and if this is the end all be all of Go Green, then maybe there isn't a reason to fight for this. |

Isn't there a thread for ads like this anyway. I can't imagine that this is anything more than product placement on a green website. Can one of the moderators move this to the proper thread. |

I am stuck on the claim worlds first safe for Eyes lamp . I am not sure how one can claim such a bold stance. Safe for the eyes is much more than the type of light output and involves many many variables. I would argue that misuse of this lamp (reading at night) would be just as harmful as using a CFL or Incandescent. Reading by daylight/sunlight is safe for the eyes, but staring into the sun will make you blind. So is the sun safe or unsafe. |

I think it looks cheap. I saw a similar item at Target the other day and I turned it on. The light output was low but still a surprise with the number and size of the bulbs. I didn't expect that much light, but I don't think its such a breakthrough that we will all stop using CFLs or even incandescents anytime soon. |

I just don't like LEDs. They don't have enough power. Sure they don't use much electricity an they have long life, but they just don't have the performance. |

LEDs lack the performance to be replacements for everyday lighting, but the research and development is under way. I think people are trying to get consumers thinking about LED now so that when the technology really gets there, we will be willing to switch again. |

So far the only home use LED's that I've been impressed with are my .35 Watt nightlights. But let's see how long they last. |

I agree. LEDs are really strong when it comes to low level lighting for safety purposes, but outside of those applications, the LED is still years behind. |

If you require lamp for just the purpose of decoration which can act as a natural ionizer than there can not be any better option than salt lamps, which are really good for the person suffering from asthma and other type of allergies Thanks, Runka |

I've never heard of salt lamps. Where do you pick those up? Are they LED based? |

Salt lamps are just lamps made from salt. They have no proven health benefits and it could be that their natural ionizing characteristics are so tiny that they make no impact on the environment around them. they aren't proven at all. |
