So I want to get one of those home energy audits done for my little house. We already do so much for the environment but I just want to see where my opportunities are. Does anyone have experience with having these done? What does it entail? Who do I need to talk to in order to get one done? Anyone know how much it costs?

There are a number of free ones online, but they will only give you basic/typical responses. You could pay a professional to come to your house for $250 to $600 and you should get a detailed audit. Or we could collaborate: www.justgreenhomes.com/homeenergyaudit for a lot less and still get detailed analysis, recomendations and probable cost savings.

For a truly serious approach, I would recommend hiring a professional. I don't know about the costs, but there are some tests that you just won't get doing an online form. You might need a blower door test or a thermal imaging camera to see where you are saving and or losing energy and therefore money.

I just paid a company to come out and do this. They say they are backed up and can't get to me for two months. Is that really how things are now? I think its great, although unexpected. I will post once I know some of the results.

I know I'm probably late to the party to help you, but for future visitors here is an article we wrote as an overview of the energy audit market: http://www.greentechbuyer.org/blog/...udit.html. I tried to attach a whitepaper and case study on home energy audits as well, but you will have to get them from our site since PDFs can't be uploaded on this forum.

Thanks for the link. Sounds like you know a little bit about what you are talking about.
