So I want to buy a new TV, one of those big models that takes up most of a wall, 72" maybe. I see both plasma and lcd at the stores and the image quality is pretty close. The prices are comparable now, which is new to me considering, they used to be much different.

I wanted to know if one is the greener choice and if so, which one. Also, would I save more energy if I went with a projection model. Either DLP projector or DLP set?

LCD by far is the better choice. The technology has caught up when it comes to image quality and they use far far less energy. When you are talking the big machines, you will probably pay more for the LCD but save energy in the process.

If you really want to save money, maybe consider getting a smaller set. Do you even have a room large enough to really take advantage of a screen that size?

The projectors are nice, but unless you like having to buy expensive bulbs all the time, I would advise against it.

Agreed with you. you mentioned a great points here. The LCD or TV's requirements depend upon the size of your room and your budget...

LCD is far better than old days CRT monitors and television. Indeed LCD suits according to room size and amount in your budget. Today's generation wants to have latest appliances in their house, which need proper sized room and suitable furniture. lol
