So its all the rage to be "green", to live a sustainable life and to have the latest "green" goods. Most people aren't doing it yet though, so I just wanted to ask and see what people think the reason is for people not wanting to create a sustainable environment and live a sustainable life.

Sure there are going to be obvious answers and if you yourself have been struggling with going green, share your reservations.

It costs too much. I am on a tight budget with the kids and somewhat shaky job security. I just can't find justification on spending more for certain items. I do do my part though., I recycled (0 cost). I do reuse my plastic bags either as garbage bags or at the grocery (not really 100% green but 100% free). I walk most places instead of driving (0 cost). other than that I don't do much.

Once green products become the norm and the prices come down, then I will think about dong more to green my life.

I have to agree. Its the cost of doing everything it takes to green one's life that drives most from being able to attain sustainable lives. Its sort of a new look at what happened during the back to the earth movement in the 60s. People thought that natural and organic lives would be simple and more rewarding, but nothing could be different. To live a sustainable life take substantial effort and nowadays, substantial cost.

I think its more than just the financials in most cases. People like to use this supposed increased cost as a skape goat for not doing the right thing, when in many cases its resistance to change and unwillingness to change patterns and behaviors for the sake of the greater good. I wish it was as simple as money, but it goes deeper than that.

The cost issue has only been magnified by the economic slow down. Ironically, a more sustainable means of living would also be more recession proof. Growing your own food, driving less, living close to job(s), reducing the need for consumer goods, etc.

I actually think that green living is an answer to economic woes. Sure it won't necessarily bolster the economy in every sector, but it will foster growth and allow people to weather the storm.

I think one of the issues is that people don't want to see that our climate is being destroyed. people can easily understand that if disastrous changes start happening, that many will die and life will become unlivable for most. This is something that is so frightening and paralyzing, that most will not let it cross their minds for more than a fleeting moment. Unless everyone comes to terms with the outcomes of not changing, then nothing will happen and the inevitable will be our future.

There is a part of me that thinks global warming isn't the big deal everyone is making it out to be. I wonder if there are really human causes for any noticeable increase in global temperatures. Is it a cycle that we just have to grin and bear? These questions and ones like them are the primary reason that I haven't jumped in with both feet. I want a healthier home and a healthier life, but I don't know if I want to buy into all this environmental talk.

Has anybody looked into eco flooring. I saw some articles on go articles but was not sure if they were accurate.

What do you mean by eco flooring? Are you referring to a specific product or the general category of eco friendly flooring options? There are plenty of eco friendly flooring choices out there. It all depends on what you are looking for.

I guess eco- flooring is the other version of green buildings. It is basically building your house using recyclable materials, eco-friendly woods etc to enhance the energy conservation movement.
